Format

We’ll meet for three 1.5-hour discussions, each focusing on key sections of Good Energy by Dr. Casey Means. Don't think you have time to read the entire book before we meet - not a problem!  Our discussions will highlight the most impactful insights, making it easy to engage even if you're short on time! Below is a summary of the weekly sessions - join all or one, it's up to you!

Discussion Focus

Session 1: Good Energy and Its role in personal well-being

  (pages 3-29; 115-184) 

  • What is 'good energy' and why is it important?
  • Why are we spending more on health care every year, yet people are getting sicker? 
  • How can we overhaul our own health with actionable tips?
  • How does diet and nutritional choices impact our mitochondria and our overall ability to make good energy and why does it matter? 
  • How do the foods we eat affect our energy levels throughout the day?

session 2: movement, sleep and stress management

(pages 185-236)

  • How does sleep, exercise, stress impact our mitochondria and our overall ability to make good energy and why does it matter? 
  • How does exercise affect your energy levels?
  • What changes in sleep habits can you try to improve your energy?
  • How do you incorporate movement, temperature and nontoxic living into your daily routine?
  • Why are access to light and the timing of your meals important?
  • How do you manage stress in your life, and how does it impact your energy?

Session 3: creating lasting change and energy optimization

How to integrate everything learned into daily life for sustained energy and health

  • What are some simple habits you'd like to implement to improve your energy?
  • How can you better navigate conversations with your doctor and read your test results?
  • What are the key tests that you should be monitoring?  And how do you gain access to this information?
  • What wearables might make sense for you to help monitoring and tracking?
  • How can you make energy optimization a long-term part of your lifestyle?
  • What changes are you excited to try based on what you’ve learned in the book?

  Juliet Ruhl is a retired teacher and small business owner who blends her love for wellness. creativity, and connection in all aspects of her life. Recently, she has redirected her love of teaching and life-long learning as a yoga instructor at Exhale Lake Oconee. Here she channels her passion for mindset, mindful movement and holistic health into her weekly yoga classes. Her commitment to deepening her knowledge of health and wellness drives her to continually learn and grow. Juliet is happiest sharing with and supporting others on their own transformative health journeys.

 Anne Hays is a former Big 4 accounting professional who transitioned into a second career as a health coach after receiving her certificate with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  She embraces an active lifestyle, finding joy in hot yoga and swimming laps—a rekindled love from her competitive swimming days.  Anne enjoys long walks while listening to health podcasts, always eager to learn and explore new ideas. Her dedication to holistic well-being was further ignited after meeting Dr. Casey Means at a woman's health summit. Anne loves traveling with her husband, cooking healthy meals, and spending time with her two playful Westies. She is devoted to empowering others to align their mind, body, and spirit to achieve their healthiest, most vibrant lives through her health coaching at Authentic Health.
